Canada’s Investment in Translational Cancer Research
This brief report, published in March 2019, provides an overview of the level and nature of the investment in translational cancer research made by Canadian research funding organizations from 2005 to 2016. Translational cancer research, known as “bench-to-bedside”, bridges fundamental scientific research and clinical research. Translational research’s goal is to apply precision medicine—preventive approaches, diagnostics, monitoring, and treatments, which consider individual differences in genes, environment, and lifestyle.
